FUE for the beard, mustache, and jawline.
Beard transplant uses the same FUE technique as scalp restoration: individual follicles are taken from a donor area (usually the back of the scalp) and placed into patchy or sparse facial regions. The angle, depth, and direction of placement are critical — the difference between a natural beard and an obviously transplanted one comes down to the artistry of placement.
Common goals include filling cheek and jawline gaps, evening out a patchy beard, restoring hair to scar tissue, defining the goatee or mustache, and rebuilding facial hair after burns or surgery.
Why patients choose Inside Out.
01
Permanent results
Transplanted follicles continue growing for life and can be shaved, trimmed, or styled like native facial hair.
02
Natural placement
Each graft placed at the correct angle and direction by Dr. Hernandez personally.
03
Scar coverage
Excellent option for restoring beard hair over surgical scars, burns, or congenital gaps.
04
Same-day procedure
Most cases run 3–6 hours under local anesthesia. You go home the same day.
Candidacy
Is this the right treatment for you?
A consultation is the only way to know for sure — but here's how we generally evaluate candidacy.
Often a good candidate
- Patchy or sparse beard with adequate scalp donor
- Scar coverage in the beard area
- Defining a goatee, mustache, or jawline
- Adults with stable facial hair growth pattern
May not be ideal
- Insufficient scalp donor density
- Active skin conditions in the beard area
- Unrealistic expectations of dense full coverage when donor is limited
How it works
A clear, supported process.
Step 1
Consultation & design
We map the desired beard shape with you and plan graft count and placement angles.
Step 2
Procedure day
3–6 hours under local anesthesia. You're awake and comfortable.
Step 3
Recovery
Tiny scabs in the beard area heal in 7–10 days. Initial shed, then new growth on the standard 3–9 month timeline.
Recovery
What recovery actually looks like.
Day 0–3
Healing begins
Mild redness and tiny scabs in the placement area. Sleep elevated. No shaving.
Day 7–10
Scabs shed
Scabs gently flake away. You can usually trim around the area lightly.
Week 2–4
Shock loss
Transplanted hairs shed — expected. Follicles remain.
Month 6–9
Final density
Beard hair matures and can be shaved, trimmed, or styled normally.

FAQs
Common questions.
Don't see your question? Call us at 559-940-6990 or book a consultation — every patient gets honest, direct answers.
Will the transplanted beard hair grow normally?+
Yes. Transplanted facial hair can be shaved, trimmed, and styled like native beard hair.
Where does the donor hair come from?+
Almost always the back of the scalp. Scalp hair adapts well to facial use over time.
How long until I can shave?+
Light trimming around the area is usually fine after 10–14 days. Full shaving after 4 weeks once healing is complete.
Will it look natural?+
When placed at the correct angle and density by an experienced physician, yes — the transplanted area is virtually indistinguishable from native beard hair.
